Agility in IT/QA

Agile is new....hardly.
Agile is ineffective...no.
Can we switch to Agile?....yes.
Will all buy in?.....no

After spinning around in methodologies over the years, my thought is that Agile  can be a better sell than alternative methods. Here is a snippet from the Agile Alliance circa 2001:

We are uncovering better ways of developing software by doing it and helping others do it.
Through this work we have come to value:
Individuals and interactions over processes and tools
Working software over comprehensive documentation
Customer collaboration over contract negotiation
Responding to change over following a plan

Seems simple, right?
.

People have ideas and mold Agile to their individual experiences and ideology......People over process.... check

Documentation needs to happen organically to enhance the software but not in spite of the app.  No need for test plans here.  But scripts can be helpful when done simply and perhaps only for automation... We all need to report up to our managers, true?  Do it through show and tell sessions.
Do not get trapped in novel writing.....check

Agile teams should have an engaged owners that is a customer, BA, reporter..... having the product owner involved and committed to the team keeps all in lock step ......check

Change.  When you embrace change the software scope tightens to mold and fits the beliefs of the people....check

Seems simple, right?
